Traveling Alone

Who doesn’t like to travel? Truth be told -not everyone, and one of the reasons why is they are afraid to travel alone but cannot find anyone that would travel with them. If that’s you let me ask you this: Why?

Traveling alone is not as scary or boring as it may seem, even if you are a woman. Yes, women can travel alone while being safe and have fun. I have done it, and so can you. Either by road or air, consider traveling alone as a soul-searching solo time. There is beauty in doing so and here is why.

You won’t have to compromise time, wake up early or sleep in, either way, you won’t have to worry about someone else’s style. You won’t have to compromise music, let’s say you are going on a road trip, the best entertainment is to play your favorite song on replay and sing at the top of your lungs. Well, if you are traveling with someone and they do not share your music preference, or rather not hear you sign, you may not have that liberty and trust me, it feels good. You will have time to think, traveling alone is the perfect opportunity to visit those life-changing decisions that require a lot of consideration. You can talk and reason with yourself out loud, this helps a lot because once you hear yourself say something it gives it a new meaning.

Safety is what you make of it. Some people travel without company but share their location and the details about their whereabouts. That is just as dangerous, if not more, as traveling alone. When traveling alone you might want to have a backup system, that is someone that always know your next move. Preferably your parents or best friend, someone you can trust that if you don’t check-in with them every few hours they’ll know something’s wrong. The best part of that safety system is that they’ll also know where to start looking because you would have told them your last move and where you’re heading.

One last thing, traveling, especially alone, doesn’t have to be as expensive as you may think. The idea behind traveling alone is to have an adventure, and that can’t happen if you are too worried about money and/or being too comfortable. Sleep in your car, eat nothing but sandwiches, drink nothing but water, shower in the river… well, it doesn’t have to be like that either, but you get the point. There are dozens of ways you can travel alone, safe and cheap, just do a little bit of research. Tip: bloggers have the best hacks on how to travel. Do not let fear keep you from exploring new things.
